How does whole-home filtration work?
A professional installer connects the system to your main water line, so water is treated where it enters your home, before it reaches any tap.
How does the filter itself work?
Water passes through stages. A sediment filter catches dirt, sand, and rust, then carbon media reduces chlorine and chemicals that affect taste and smell.
Why get a whole-home filter?
For better-tasting, better-smelling water at every tap and shower, and to help protect pipes and appliances from sediment buildup.
How long do the filters and system last?
It depends on the system, your water, and how much you use. Your installer will give you the replacement schedule for your exact model.
Do I need RO if I have a whole-home system?
They do different jobs. Whole-home filtration treats all your water, while RO filters much finer for drinking and cooking. Many homes use both.
Will a softener make my water cleaner?
A softener targets hardness, not contaminants. Pair it with filtration or RO if contaminants are a concern.
Does reverse osmosis remove minerals too?
Yes, it reduces beneficial minerals along with unwanted substances. If you like the taste of mineral water, we can add a remineralizing filter.
Do these systems use extra water?
Some do. RO and softeners send some water down the drain as they work. High-efficiency models use much less.
Do softeners add sodium to my water?
A small amount of sodium, or potassium if you choose it. We can also keep RO-treated water at the kitchen tap for drinking and cooking.
Do filters need to be changed?
Yes. Every system has a maintenance schedule, and we'll give you the one for your exact model.
